5 Steps to do before waxing to ensure optimum results.

Waxing does leave your skin feeling smooth and hair free for up to six weeks.  To ensure we get optimum results here’s a few pointers from Wax it’s CEO Peggy Millios.

1. Growth of the hair?

Hair needs to be long enough for the wax to imbed for easy removal.  Ensure your hair is around 3 weeks of growth, around the size of a grain of rice.  If you are doing larger areas 4-6 weeks of growth is ideal.

2. What does your skin look like?

Check the area you are wanting to get treated for any broken or inflamed skin.  It’s best to let these heal over.  If you have any moles, cuts, bruises, patches of dry skin, etc let your  esthetician aware so they can be protected during the wax treatment.

3. Has the skin been prepped?

Preparing the skin has its advantages.  Easy removal, almost pain free which we love, and less removal time.

So, hydrate inside and out.  Drink heaps of water leading up to your wax treatment, exfoliate 2 – 3 times a week and moisturize skin with a hydration lotion every day.

4. Well informed is well equipped!

Let your esthetician aware of any illness, medications and skin products external and internal you may be taking, as believe it or not, it does affect the safety of your skin.

Waxing is an exfoliant, so if your skin has been compromised through any illness, medications taken or products such as Accutane or retinol-based, this can alter the sensitivity of the skin and causing reduced layers of skin in areas.

Waxing over the skin in this condition can cause skin to be lifted and can experience bruising.  Check with your doctor or dermatologist to ensure your skin is ready for waxing treatment.

5. The big day is here!
